Load Different MovieClip from Library to Empty MovieClip One by One AS 3 Tutorial (1)

Many visitors have been asking how to load different MovieClips from the Library to an Empty MovieClip on the Stage one by one with loop animation effect with Flash ActionScript. Here's the Flash ActionScript tutorial.

Flash Tutorial Content:

Actually this flash animation is simply a modification of previous flash ActionScript tutorial - loading MovieClip from the library to the stage. In this flash AS tutorial, we import and convert one more clipart (light house) to MovieClip. The procedures are the same as previous tutorial.

To make this interesting loop animation more easily to achieve, we combine the timeline and ActionScript technique. This way, we can re-use the Flash ActionScript that learned before. Moreover, the codes of Flash ActionScript is very simple too.

Flash ActionScript Codes (Frame 1):

Preparation: Create Linkage for the MovieClip

STEP 1: Prepare MovieClip
You already prepared a MovieClip in the library
In this example, the name of the MovieClip is called "Tree"

 

STEP 2: Create Linkage
Select the "Tree" movieclip from the library window
Select "Linkage..." from the pop up window
The Linkage Properties window appear
Check the "Export for ActionScript"
Enter "Tree" in the Class field.

 

Preparation: Create an empty MovieClip

1. Select "Insert" from the menu.
2. Select "New Symbol" from the drop down menu
3. The "Create New Symbol" window pop up.
4. Enter "emptyMC" in the Name field. Select MovieClip.
5. Select "Scene"
6. Drag the "emptyMC" to a desired position on the stage (e.g. 150, 210)
7. Give a new instance name "emptyMC_mc" to this empty MovieClip

Actually the above codes are exactly the same as previous tutorial.

Then the loaded MovieClip was removed in frame 30 using the following Flash ActionScript codes:

// Remove the loaded MovieClip
emptyMC_mc.removeChild(myMovieClip);

Repeat the same procedures to load other MovieClips from the library.
